Shortage of Warning

Traces of untold tales linger in the margin
As the nation’s quiet advance continues
Along the road to devolution.

Of sleepy pomp and banal unionism
We sing to find an erstwhile period,
Overwritten by today’s largely illegible culture.

Questions flood the political surface
Under the curling wallpaper,
Fading vigorously into a yellow warning.
